To set their office address as the default start and end location for new Routes within Salesforce Maps, a Sales Rep can follow these steps1:

• From the Maps interface, click on the Settings gear icon at the top right corner of the navigation bar.
• Select Routes & Schedule from the navigation sidebar on the left to open the Routes and Schedule settings menu.
• Under General, select an existing Favorite Location as the default start and end location. If the office address is not already a Favorite Location, the Sales Rep can create one by following these steps2:
• Click Save to save the default settings.

heatmap is a render mode that can display closely-related markers colored according to their density. A heatmap is a graphical representation of data where the individual values contained in a matrix are represented as colors. A heatmap can show the intensity of data points in an area, such as the number of customers or sales volume.

According to the Trailhead module 2, this is the best strategy for creating a data set with a large number of accounts. A single SOQL query can retrieve up to 500,000 records, and aggregating to the container level can reduce the number of units in the data set. This can improve the performance and efficiency of Territory Planning.

The admin should add a filter to the Lead Marker Layer used to configure Stop Associations to include only open Leads. This will ensure that stops only be associated to open Leads in the Live Daily Summaries. • C. Salesforce Reports: The customer can use Salesforce reports to create data sets that include data from multiple objects and fields, such as accounts, contacts, opportunities, and custom objects. Salesforce reports allow the customer to use report types, filters, groupings, and charts to customize the data they want to plot on the map3. The customer can create Salesforce reports in the Reports tab in Salesforce, and then use them as data sources in the Data Sets tab in Maps Advanced, by clicking New, selecting the object type, and choosing Report as the data source4.
• E. External CSV: The customer can use external CSV files to import data from other systems or applications into Salesforce Maps. CSV files are comma-separated values files that store tabular data in plain text format. CSV files can include data from various sources, such as spreadsheets, databases, or web services. The customer can upload CSV files as data sources in the Data Sets tab in Maps Advanced, by clicking New, selecting the object type, and choosing CSV File as the data source5.

These are the two options that an admin has when defining the Visit Duration in a Maps Advanced Visit Plan. Visit Duration is the amount of time that a user plans to spend at each stop on their route. The admin can configure the Visit Duration for a routable object in two ways:

• The admin can select a field from the routable object that contains the duration value, such as a custom field or a standard field like Estimated Travel Time. The field must be a number or text field that contains only numbers.
• The admin can enter any length of time in minutes in the Visit Duration field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object. The Visit Duration field is a number field that accepts values from 1 to 1440 (24 hours). The admin cannot use fixed values like 60 minutes or 30 minutes as options for defining the Visit Duration, as these are not configurable options in Maps Advanced. The Visit Duration must be either a field from the routable object or a value entered in the Visit Duration field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object.

An administrator can assign users to a Maps Advanced Visit Plan by either selecting user profiles or individual users from the Users tab in the Visit Plan configuration. This is explained in the Assign Users to Your Visit Plan section of the Salesforce Help Docs.

A visit plan can fail to populate any visits in the user’s calendar for several reasons. One possible reason is that the filters and spelling are incorrect or inconsistent, which can prevent the visit plan from finding the right customers or accounts. Another possible reason is that the customers are not within the driving range of the user, which can make the visit plan unfeasible or inefficient. A third possible reason is that there are too many customers assigned to the user, which can exceed the capacity or availability of the user. These are two considerations that a Salesforce admin should keep in mind when setting up the OAuth user in order to establish a secure connection with the Salesforce Maps Routing Engine. An OAuth user is required to perform optimizations for routes in Advanced Routing4. The OAuth user should have the following permissions and roles6:

• The OAuth user should have the Salesforce Maps Advanced Permission Set License assigned.
• The OAuth user should have the Maps Admin and SF Maps Advanced Permission Sets assigned.
• The OAuth User has been assigned to a role that is above the Maps Advanced end-users in the Salesforce Role Hierarchy. The OAuth user does not need to be assigned to an active visit plan, as this is not relevant for setting up an OAuth user. The OAuth user does not need to be assigned to the ‘OAuth user’ profile, as this is not a valid profile in Salesforce.

Salesforce Maps Live Tracking allows users to track the live and historical locations of vehicles, equipment, and users in the field. To generate reports on the distance driven by each sales rep, the admin needs to use the Maps Live Asset Daily Summary object. This object contains the summary data for each asset, such as the total distance, duration, and fuel consumption for a given day. The admin can create a report on this object and group it by the asset name or driver name to see the total mileage driven by each sales rep on their team. According to the Trailhead module 2, there are two possible reasons for missing markers on mobile devices compared to desktop devices. One is that the maximum records to plot setting for mobile is considerably less compared to desktop, which means that only a subset of records will be plotted on the map. The other is that the plot visible area feature is enabled, which means that only the records that fall within the current map view will be plotted.

The Project Manager should manage this situation with the customer. The Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the project scope, timeline, budget, and deliverables. They should communicate with the customer about the impact of the new requirement on the project and negotiate a mutually agreeable solution. They should also document any changes to the project scope and update the project plan accordingly. This is explained in the Salesforce Maps Implementation Methodology document.

Routes is the feature that supports the use of Custom Drive Profiles. Custom Drive Profiles are used to create routes that are optimized for trucks and other vehicles that might not be able to travel the same roads as passenger cars3. A route can be optimized based on the specificcharacteristics of a truck and its cargo, such as height, weight, length, and hazardous materials3. To use this feature, the user needs to create a Salesforce Maps Drive Profiles tab and a custom object for Maps Drive Profile3. Then, the user can create a new Drive Profile with the details of the vehicle and select it when creating a route in Salesforce Maps3. The characteristics of the vehicle’s Drive Profile will be used to create a route that is compliant with published permanent road restrictions3. Favorite Location, Schedule, and Marker Layer are not features that support the use of Custom Drive Profiles.

According to the Salesforce Help article on Configure Options for Publishing Alignments1, one of the possible causes of some publish options being greyed out and inactive is that the user does not have the correct permission to publish. The admin can configure the access level and approval requirement for each publish option in the Salesforce Maps package settings1. If the user is not assigned to a permission group or profile that has the access level to publish, they will not be able to use that option1.

A user can plot a Live Layer in Maps for three main purposes. One is to dispatch the nearest driver to a service call, which can help optimize routing and scheduling. Another is to validate a driver’s location in the event of an emergency, which can help ensure safety and security. A third is to see any occurrences of speeding events for a given Live Asset, which can help monitor performance and compliance. These purposes are explained in the Create Live Layers document.

Permission Groups are the permission level that an admin should review if a user is able to view but not able to export a list of markers from Salesforce Maps. Permission Groups are used to grant access to features in Salesforce Maps, such as allowing marker exports, editing details tab fields, enabling weather tab, and so on1. The admin can edit existing permission groups or create new ones to assign different features to different users or profiles1. If a user is not able to export a list of markers from Salesforce Maps, it means that the user does not have the ‘Allow Marker Exports’ permission checked in the Permission Groups on Maps configuration page2. The admin can enable this permission for the user or profile by editing the corresponding permission group2.

The Maps Live Asset Daily Summary object should be included in a Salesforce Report to see the total distance traveled each day by a Sales Rep. This object stores the summary information of a Live Asset’s activity for a given day, such as the start and end time, the total distance, the total duration, and the number of stops. The admin can create a report using this object and filter by the Live Asset name or ID to see the distance traveled by each Sales Rep. This is explained in the Create Reports for Live Assets document.

To choose individual accounts from the Map without selecting the underlying geographical container, the Sales Manager should use the Arrow icon and the Unit Mode in Territory Planning. The Arrow icon allows the user to select individual units (accounts) on the map1. TheUnit Mode allows the user to view and edit units without affecting containers2. The ContainerMode allows the user to view and edit containers without affecting units2. The Filter options in the legend allow the user to filter units or containers by attributes, but not to select them individually1.

According to the Salesforce Maps Configuration module on Trailhead1, to create multiple visit windows for different types of visits, you need to create two lookup fields on the Account object to the Visit Window object. This way, you can assign different visit windows to different routable records.

Developer and Technical Architect are two team members that should be included during a Maps scoping session in which legacy data/mapping system migrations and integrations/interfaces will be discussed. These team members have the technical expertise and skills to assess the feasibility, complexity, and risks of migrating and integrating data from different sources and systems. They can also provide guidance and recommendations on how to design, develop, test, and deploy the data migration and integration solutions. These team members are part of the Salesforce Maps Implementation Methodology document.

According to the Salesforce Maps documentation1, when using the limit areas by attribute option during an optimization, some units may be trimmed from the areas and assigned to a specific area or the unassigned bucket, depending on the leftover unit assignment setting. To visualize these leftover units, the user must open the alignment using the “Include Unassigned Units” option, which will display all units in the data set, regardless of whether they are assigned to an area or not. This option can be found in the Alignment Settings window, under the Data tab2. By selecting this option, the user can see the leftover units on the map and in the legend, and decide how to handle them. References:

The administrator must configure “Appointments” in Routes and Schedule settings within Maps Configuration to ensure that a record is created for the custom object while creating a new visit plan for Maps Advanced. This step allows the administrator to select a calendar object for output, which is the object that stores the visit records after route generation. The administrator can choose any standard or custom object that has a start date/time and end date/time field. This is explained in the Select a Calendar Object for Output document.

A Consultant should recommend Publish to Salesforce Fields as the publish method in Territory Planning for a client who uses account owners as the primary method of territory assignment and has low influx of new accounts. This method allows users to update any field on any object with the territory name or ID. This can be useful for clients who want to assign accounts based on ownership and do not need to update them frequently. This method also works well for non-contiguous territories, as it does not rely on geographical boundaries. This is explained in the Publish to Fields in Salesforce Maps Territory Planning document.

The two possible causes of this behavior are that the client is using a Professional edition Org which limits the number of records that can be processed using API, and that users are assigned to the Default Maps Permission group that has the Max Query Size defined to 5000. These factors can affect the number of records that users can plot on Desktop using their Account based marker layers. The Professional edition Org has a limit of 5,000 API calls per user license per 24-hour period, which can restrict the amount of data that Salesforce Maps can access and display. The Default Maps Permission group has a default setting of 5,000 for the Max Query Size, which can limit the number of records that users can query and plot on Desktop. These factors are explained in the Salesforce API Request Limits and Allocations document and the Salesforce Maps Permission Groups document.

Because Salesforce Maps is an installed package, its data and configurations cannot be moved via change sets. Change sets can only move metadata components between orgs, not data records or custom settings. Therefore, the Maps Administrator should consider recreating the Salesforce Maps data and configurations by hand in the destination org, or using a third-party tool or API to automate the process. This is explained in the Salesforce Maps Apex Developer Guide.

These are the three steps that the admin must complete to include their custom object Alpine Customers in Maps Advanced routing. According to the article "Configure custom routable object for Maps Advanced"1, a routable object is an object that represents the location users will navigate to within their Salesforce Maps Advanced Visit Plans, such as Accounts. To configure a custom object as a routable object, the admin needs to create a lookup relationship field on the Maps Advanced Route Waypoint object that points to the custom object1. The admin also needs to create a custom report type for the custom object in order to import the customer listfor routing2. Additionally, the admin needs to ensure that all records of the custom object have geocodes (latitude/longitude values) assigned, as this is required for plotting them on the map and routing them3. Making sure that Click2Create is configured for Alpine Customers is not a necessary step, as Click2Create is a feature that allows users to create records directly from the map view, not to include them in routing4. Ensuring that users are assigned to the records or related records they want to route via user lookup field is also not a necessary step, as this is only required for Enterprise Territory Management integration, not for routing5.
